NHDP featured in news article in The Rising Nepal
Dr. Christiane Brosius and Nepal Team member Rajendra Shakya were featured in The Rising Nepal’s article “Destroyed Phalcha, displaced god” on 19 March 2023. The article focuses on the difficulties with restoring long forgotten, destroyed or even stolen monuments like the two-storeyed Phalcha in Sundhara district. Being home to the Pwa Sya Dya – or “stomach-ache deity”, the building is but memories. And while there are no actual plans to rebuild the Phalcha as of yet, an art exhibitions based on photographic, iconographic and epigraphic studies by the NHDP has reconstructed the building momentarily to create awareness of this lost complex.
