Dil Kumar Barahi becomes the first Nepali to win the Jeonju International Award
Dil Kumar Barahi was awarded the prestigious Jeonju International Award for his role in the preservation of intagible cultural heritage of woodworking, making him the first Nepali to receive this honour. He leads the organisation 'Barahi Da Guthi' which promotes and preserves cultural heritage. Barahi belongs to a lineage of carpenters who have been associated with the making of the wooden chariot of Machhindranath, the deity of rain and good harvest. He was selected from among three finalists and was handed over the award in a virtual ceremony. We congratulate Mr. Barahi for his outstanding achievement and thank him for his work that inspires and motivates projects like NHDP.
