Sixty Years of South Asia Institute and Inauguration of DANAM Touch Screen at the Patan Museum

On 27 September 2022, The German Embassy in Nepal hosted a celebration for 60 years of the South Asia Institute as well as the Germany Unity Day. NHDP co-organised this event and prominently presented the work to all the guests present at the event. On this occasion, the Germany Embassy supported the installation of a touchscreen at the Patan Museum where NHDP’s data is displayed. Christiane Brosius was invited speaker to present Heidelberg’s research focus on Nepal’s heritage, and introduced NHDP and the touch screen on this occasion. The NHDP-based touch screen with DANAM, heritage walks and heritage focus areas was officially launched and found ample interest among the guests. His Excellency, Dr. Thomas Prinz, the German Ambassador to Nepal said that the Embassy considered it to be was a great opportunity to support NHDP's work with respect to the open access of Nepal’s heritage through the touch screen. Nanda Kishor Pun, the vice president of Nepal, was also briefed about the DANAM database and the touch screen by Rajan Kathiwoda and Elias Michaels, which he found highly interesting and gave his sincere thanks for the work being done by NHDP towards the preservation of the cultural heritage of Nepal.
